One year after its initial announcement, China’s Global Governance Initiative (GGI) has transitioned from a strategic proposal into institutionalized international practice.

Nearly 160 countries and international organizations have expressed support for the framework, with over 60 nations joining the Group of Friends of Global Governance across major UN centers to coordinate on issues such as digital policy, climate action, and UN reform.

Key concrete outcomes of the initiative include the launch of the International Organization for Mediation in Hong Kong, the formation of the Global Partnership for Poverty Alleviation and Development alongside 53 countries, and the establishment of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization.

Looking toward the start of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan in 2026, China plans to deepen these reforms by hosting a global governance forum in the Xiong’an New Area.
