Fashion designers, artisans, policy makers, style personalities, entrepreneurs and cultural enthusiasts are set to gather at the EUI Centre, Port Harcourt, from Saturday, November 7 to 8, to celebrate the third edition of the Niger Delta Cultural Fashion Festival 2026.
Organised by the Fashion Xperience Festival in partnership with the Rivers State government, the festival will be held under the theme “Culture’s Future: A Celebration of Yesterday’s Ancestry and Tomorrow’s Artistery.”
The two-day festival will celebrate the fashion identity of the Niger Delta, from the iconic George, Etibo, Isiagu, Akwete, Kalabari beads, Isoko Khe’mbi, Etibo and Itsekiri Kemeje, while positioning local creatives into a global manufacturing hub.
Organizers said the 2026 edition is built on one idea: Culture is Market. And in a region of about 50 tribes and over 500 festivals across nine states, fashion is not just dressing — it is history, resistance, pride and economy.
Events will include traditional parades, runway shows, designer connect and tech corner, festival parties and local cuisine, with cultural exhibitions from the nine Niger Delta States— Delta, Abia, Edo, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Ondo, Cross River and Imo.
The festival will also feature panel discussions on shared identity, exploring how the young people of the Niger Delta, which cut-across over 50 nationalities can transcend local divisions and foster understanding across communities for economic growth and development.
The Rivers State government said the timing is strategic, emphasizing that the festival will boost the non-oil sector, encourage public-private partnerships, promote youth empowerment and position Port Harcourt as a fashion tourism hub.
