China has called for greater international cooperation to improve global human rights governance, emphasizing development, security, and mutual respect as key pillars of human rights protection.

Speaking at the 2026 Forum on Global Human Rights Governance in Beijing, participants discussed ways to strengthen global human rights efforts under the theme of shared development and the right to development.

China highlighted the release of its National Human Rights Action Plan (2026–2030), reaffirming its commitment to improving people’s well-being and advancing human rights through modernization.

China stressed that peace and security are essential foundations for human rights and urged countries to respect national sovereignty, reject double standards, and oppose the politicization of human rights issues.

Marking the 40th anniversary of the Declaration on the Right to Development, China called for greater focus on development rights, stronger international cooperation, and improved protection for vulnerable groups, including women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

The forum also emphasized the importance of multilateralism, dialogue, and respect for diverse development paths, with China urging nations to work together to build a fairer, more inclusive global human rights system that benefits all people.
