China has unveiled a new energy development plan for the 2026–2030 period, aiming to establish a clean, low-carbon, secure, and efficient energy system by 2030. The strategy prioritizes energy security, renewable energy expansion, technological innovation, and modern energy infrastructure.

Under the plan, renewable energy is expected to account for more than half of the country’s installed power generation capacity. In contrast, non-fossil energy will produce around 50 percent of total electricity. China also plans to strengthen its power grid with new ultra-high-voltage transmission lines, expand energy storage, integrate artificial intelligence into grid management, and promote green hydrogen and other emerging clean energy industries.

Officials said the country will invest more than 20 trillion yuan during the 15th Five-Year Plan to improve energy security, accelerate the green transition, and support new energy technologies, reinforcing China’s long-term commitment to sustainable and high-quality development.
