China welcomed 22.914 million inbound visits by foreign nationals in the first half of 2026, a 20.4 percent increase from a year earlier, driven by expanded visa-free policies and growing global interest in Chinese culture and travel.
International visitors are increasingly exploring China’s technology, rural communities, cultural traditions, and modern cities through immersive travel experiences. Improved tax refund services, mobile payment systems, and easier entry policies have made travel more convenient, encouraging repeat visits and strengthening China’s appeal as a leading global tourism destination.
