China is accelerating the development of space-based computing, moving data processing and AI capabilities into orbit to improve efficiency and reduce reliance on ground-based data centers. Recent tests successfully used an AI-powered satellite to process commands and remotely control a ground robot, marking a major step toward building an orbital computing network.
The technology aims to enhance disaster monitoring, satellite data processing, and communications while using abundant solar energy in space. China has achieved key breakthroughs in satellite computing, laser communications, and constellation deployment, with plans to expand orbital computing networks and strengthen its digital infrastructure through advanced space technology.
