China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) industry achieved a major breakthrough in July, with NEVs accounting for over 60% of monthly new vehicle sales and surpassing 50% of cumulative sales for the first time.

The growth was driven by stronger battery technology, smarter vehicle features, improved safety, and rising consumer demand. Chinese automakers also strengthened their global position, with NEVs dominating domestic best-seller rankings and exports continuing to expand.

With more than 23 million charging facilities nationwide and supportive industrial policies, China’s NEV sector is expected to maintain strong momentum and further enhance its global competitiveness.
