China is strengthening its import strategy with expanded market access and new trade promotion measures, reinforcing its commitment to high-standard opening up and balanced global trade.
The country’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) prioritizes import growth alongside exports, while the “Export to China” initiative continues to create opportunities for businesses worldwide through trade expos, cross-border e-commerce, and investment platforms.
China has also expanded zero-tariff access for eligible African countries and upgraded fast-track channels for African agricultural and food exports, supporting broader participation in its growing consumer market.
In the first half of 2026, China’s imports reached 10.74 trillion yuan (about $1.59 trillion), a 22.1% year-on-year increase, underscoring its role as a key driver of global trade and economic growth.
