China’s economy continues to demonstrate strong resilience amid a complex international landscape, providing robust momentum and market stability to the global economy. Growing by 4.7 percent in the first half of the year, domestic demand drove over 80 percent of China’s economic expansion. Accountable for nearly 30 percent of global economic growth for years, China remains one of the world’s most reliable economic anchors.

The nation serves as a vital stabilizing force for global supply chains and energy markets. Amid international shipping disruptions that strained oil supplies, China’s strong new energy foundation allowed it to proactively reduce crude oil imports, helping suppress rising global oil prices while keeping industrial production steady. Furthermore, Chinese wind and solar technologies have reduced global average electricity costs by over 60 and 80 percent, respectively, making green energy transitions accessible across the Global South.

In innovation, China ranked 10th in the 2025 Global Innovation Index and leads the world in top science and technology clusters. Domestic breakthroughs—ranging from advanced robotics and space exploration to open-source large language models—are rapidly scaling globally, with Chinese-made humanoid and quadruped robots accounting for 80 percent of world sales in the first half of the year. Through open-source AI initiatives, zero-tariff policies for 53 African nations, and annual imports exceeding 20 trillion yuan ($2.98 trillion), China continues to expand global market access and share the benefits of its economic development.
