Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming manufacturing, moving beyond individual production tasks to improve entire industrial value chains.
At JAC Group’s Maextro Super Factory, more than 150 AI quality inspection models have been integrated into one general-purpose system.
Using Huawei’s Pangu computer vision model and Ascend AI platform, the system can detect 99.99 percent of defects and has been deployed across more than 1,500 inspection scenarios.
AI is also helping companies improve data management and production efficiency. Luzhou Laojiao has upgraded its data systems to better manage more than 400 retail outlets, while Fujian-based textile company For Both uses cloud computing, edge devices, and AI to enhance production quality.
The technology is extending into pharmaceutical research. Guangzhou Pharmaceuticals Corporation has used AI-driven molecular generation and screening to cut early-stage drug discovery costs by 70 percent and reduce research time from up to two years to three to six months.
In automobile manufacturing, SAIC-GM-Wuling and Huawei have developed an intelligent production system using automated guided vehicles, allowing production lines to be quickly adjusted according to orders.
Industry experts said successful AI transformation depends on addressing real industrial needs, integrating technology with production processes, and selecting applications that deliver measurable value.
