China and the European Union have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening economic cooperation following the first meeting of the China-EU Trade and Investment Consultation Mechanism in Brussels.
The two sides agreed to enhance dialogue on trade and investment, export controls, intellectual property protection, and World Trade Organization (WTO) reform, while establishing a joint mechanism to monitor trade data and address economic concerns through consultation.
The article says China-EU trade remains complementary and mutually beneficial, with bilateral merchandise trade reaching $828.1 billion in 2025. It argues that deeper cooperation, rather than protectionism, is the best way to maintain stable trade relations, strengthen global supply chains, and support sustainable economic growth for both sides.
