China has strengthened its position as a global leader in display technology following the mass production of its first 8.6-generation AMOLED production line in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Developed by BOE Technology Group, the facility marks a breakthrough in high-generation OLED manufacturing.
The achievement highlights China’s transformation from relying on imported display panels to becoming the world’s largest display producer. BOE now manufactures one in every four display panels globally and has filed more than 100,000 patent applications.
The new production line is expected to support over 200 companies across the display supply chain, while China’s display industry generated more than 800 billion yuan in output value in 2025, accounting for 55 percent of the global display panel market and 43 percent of the display materials market.
