Ethiopia’s coffee exports to China are growing strongly as the expanding Chinese market creates new opportunities for African producers and strengthens bilateral trade cooperation.
Ethiopian coffee exporter AWO Coffee said China has become one of its most important overseas markets, driving increased production, improved quality, and long-term export partnerships. The company is also expanding from green coffee beans into roasted and packaged coffee products to meet growing consumer demand.
Official data shows Ethiopia exported nearly 48,000 tons of coffee to China in the 2025–2026 fiscal year, valued at 347 million U.S. dollars, reinforcing China’s position as the country’s third-largest coffee export destination.
