China’s domestically developed LineShine supercomputer has ranked first on the TOP500 list, marking a major milestone in the country’s high-performance computing capabilities and technological innovation.

Powered by a self-developed processor and the world’s first fully liquid-cooled computing cabinets, LineShine delivers more than 2 exaflops of sustained performance. Unlike most leading supercomputers that rely on CPU-GPU combinations, it uses a pure CPU architecture to improve efficiency and performance.

The achievement reflects China’s growing emphasis on independent innovation across key technologies, including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and advanced manufacturing. LineShine is already supporting research in climate science, medicine, materials, and artificial intelligence, helping accelerate scientific discovery and industrial development.

Officials say the breakthrough demonstrates China’s commitment to developing cutting-edge technologies that strengthen innovation, support economic growth, and address real-world challenges across multiple sectors.
