Since being named China’s first national pilot zone for robotics in 2013, Wuhu in Anhui province has built an integrated industry cluster featuring over 300 companies with an annual output exceeding 40 billion yuan ($5.93 billion). The city’s ecosystem spans component manufacturing, system integration, core technology development, and localized testing services like those provided by Ceprei Robotics.

Market leader EFORT, originally spun out from automaker Chery to replace imported equipment, sold over 15,000 industrial robots in 2025 and projects over 20,000 units in 2026. The company now holds the sixth-largest domestic market share and maintains independent control over core components.

Local firms are expanding into embodied AI and humanoid robotics. Chery-incubated startup AiMOGA has deployed quadruped robot dogs for security and companionship, alongside “Wuyou” traffic control humanoid robots operating on city streets.
