China’s prefabricated housing industry is winning growing international orders as factory-built modular homes are exported to Australia, North America, and the Middle East for use as hotels, apartments, hospitals, and residential buildings.

Manufactured in smart factories in Guangdong, the modular units are produced with automated precision and assembled on-site in a fraction of the time required for traditional construction. Industry experts say the technology reduces construction periods by more than 60 percent, lowers labor costs, and improves building quality.

Chinese construction firms are also expanding overseas by adapting modular building technology to international standards, strengthening China’s position in the global industrialized construction market.
