Nikiforos Diamandouros, president of the Academy of Athens, has emphasized the importance of dialogue between Chinese and Greek civilizations in addressing global governance challenges and rebuilding international trust.

Speaking to the news men, he noted that both Confucian and Greek philosophies stress moral governance, social harmony, and the common good. He praised China’s concept of “harmony without uniformity” as a valuable contribution to modern international relations.

Diamandouros said the ongoing World Conference of Classics in Athens provides a platform for civilizations to learn from one another through dialogue rather than confrontation. He also highlighted the growing cooperation between China and Greece in archaeology, education, cultural heritage, and academic exchanges.

According to the scholar, collaboration between the two ancient civilizations demonstrates that different cultures can peacefully coexist, mutually enrich one another, and contribute to a shared future for humanity. He also called for greater cooperation in areas such as technology ethics and AI governance, combining humanistic traditions with modern innovation.
