Hainan Free Trade Port is attracting stronger business investment and consumer activity following the launch of island-wide special customs operations in December 2025.

Between December 2025 and May 2026, more than 172,000 new market entities were registered in Hainan, including nearly 140,000 new enterprises, reflecting growing confidence in the province’s business environment.

New policies have supported the development of bonded maintenance services, allowing companies to repair and refurbish high-value products for international markets. The province is also drawing major manufacturing investments, including a new gas turbine assembly and service center that will serve both China and Southeast Asia.

Hainan has further expanded consumer benefits by introducing duty-free shopping for eligible residents on a wide range of imported daily goods. The policy has boosted retail sales and strengthened the province’s appeal as a trade and consumption hub.

Officials say the Free Trade Port’s preferential policies continue to promote investment, industrial upgrading, and high-quality economic development.
