The market features a raised roof with ventilation openings, energy-efficient lighting, water-saving facilities, proper waste management, and biodegradable shopping bags, creating a cleaner, cooler, and more comfortable shopping environment.

Since launching its ecological market program in 2019, Chongming has combined green development with modern market management, enhancing food safety, reducing pollution, and promoting sustainable practices.

Local vendors say the upgraded market has reduced cleanup work, improved produce quality, and attracted more tourists, boosting sales and incomes.
