Zhejiang Province is strengthening its typhoon response by deploying advanced technologies such as drones, artificial intelligence, and digital monitoring systems to improve disaster prevention and emergency management.

During Typhoon Bavi, drones helped evacuate 765 residents from Jiangfeng village in Wenzhou within 12 hours, preventing casualties despite severe flooding. Across the province, drones monitored fishing ports, inspected seawalls, and identified potential hazards in real time, enabling faster repairs and safer evacuations.

AI-powered patrol systems and smart platforms also monitored embankments, highways, weather, and water levels, allowing authorities to detect risks early and coordinate rapid emergency responses. These technologies have significantly reduced inspection times while improving disaster management efficiency.

Officials say the adoption of intelligent systems is helping Zhejiang shift from reactive disaster response to proactive risk prevention, enhancing public safety and infrastructure resilience during extreme weather events.
