The second World Conference of Classics opened in Athens, Greece, bringing together leading scholars from around 20 countries to explore how ancient wisdom can help address modern global challenges.

Under the theme “Dialogue Between Ancient and Modern: Contemporary Inspiration from Classical Wisdom,” participants discussed issues including education, ethics, technology, and global governance. The conference highlighted the enduring relevance of Chinese and Greek civilizations in promoting mutual understanding and international cooperation.

China and Greece, as major sources of Eastern and Western classical thought, continue to deepen cultural and academic exchanges through joint institutions, archaeological projects, and scholarly collaboration.

The event also underscored China’s commitment to the Global Civilization Initiative, which advocates dialogue, mutual learning, and cooperation among civilizations. Scholars noted that greater civilizational exchange can help overcome division, strengthen trust, and contribute to building a community with a shared future for humanity.

Participants emphasized that openness, inclusiveness, and mutual respect remain essential for addressing global challenges and advancing human progress.
