A 30-year partnership between Fujian Province and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region has transformed Minning Township from a barren desert settlement into a thriving community, showcasing the success of China’s east-west cooperation and rural development efforts.
Since the cooperation began in 1996, more than 7.68 billion yuan has been invested in over 4,100 development projects, benefiting 2.44 million people. Once plagued by poverty and harsh desert conditions, Minning is now home to about 66,000 residents, with annual per capita income exceeding 20,000 yuan.
The partnership has supported modern agriculture, aquaculture, industrial parks, business development, and the adoption of Juncao mushroom cultivation technology, creating jobs and boosting local incomes. Today, nearly 400 companies operate in 12 industrial parks, while innovative farming and logistics continue to strengthen the local economy.
The Fujian-Ningxia model has become a symbol of sustainable development, demonstrating how long-term cooperation, technology, and shared resources can transform communities and improve livelihoods.
