Located in the Pearl River Delta, the historical city of Foshan in Guangdong province is leveraging its manufacturing strengths and Lingnan cultural heritage to establish itself as a modern center for global trade and technological innovation.

Foshan is home to two trillion yuan ($297.6 billion) industrial clusters in equipment manufacturing and home furnishings, supporting over 126,600 industrial enterprises.

Foshan has built 25 proof-of-concept centers and 91 pilot testing platforms to connect advanced academic research with industrial manufacturing.

Alongside its industrial expansion, Foshan preserves its historical character, including 15 national-level intangible cultural heritage items such as Cantonese opera, lion dancing, and martial arts. Historical neighbourhoods like the Donghuali area near the 900-year-old Ancestral Temple have undergone revitalization to integrate leisure, tourism, and local traditions into daily urban life.
