China Calls for Global Cooperation on AI Development and Governance

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for stronger international cooperation to ensure artificial intelligence is developed safely, inclusively, and for the benefit of humanity during the 2026 World AI Conference in Shanghai.

In his keynote speech, Xi proposed greater openness in AI innovation, improved global governance, stronger risk management, and wider international collaboration. China also announced plans to provide 5,000 AI training opportunities for developing countries over the next five years and expand AI cooperation with regional organizations.

The country reaffirmed its commitment to promoting responsible AI development through international partnerships, technology sharing, and practical applications that support sustainable development and improve people’s lives worldwide.
