Nigeria has launched a national digital calendar designed to bring festivals, exhibitions, concerts, food, fashion and other cultural experiences across the country onto a single platform as part of a new September-to-December tourism programme.

The calendar forms part of Ember to Remember 2026, a national tourism initiative formally launched at a stakeholders conference in Lagos on Monday by the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy.

At the centre of the initiative is the National Digital Events and Experiences Calendar, powered by MyCityApp and designed to bring together information on cultural and tourism activities across Nigeria and make them easier for the public to discover.

The calendar includes traditional festivals, concerts, exhibitions, cultural celebrations, food experiences, fashion events and tourism destinations.

Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa said the initiative aims to coordinate cultural and tourism activities concentrated between September and December and develop a more connected national tourism season.

The period is one of Nigeria’s busiest for cultural and tourism events, ranging from community and royal festivals to contemporary music, fashion, film and arts programmes. Information about such activities has often been dispersed across organisers, state authorities and tourism platforms.

The federal government is now calling on state governments, festival organisers, cultural institutions, tourism operators, hospitality businesses and creative-industry stakeholders to submit their events to the platform. MyCityApp says the system supports listings from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with content continuing to be added and updated.

Festivals, concerts and other cultural events can generate spending on transport, accommodation, food, retail and other local services, according to officials. Government and private-sector representatives have put the potential value of Nigeria’s tourism and creative economy at about $100 billion.
