\A large photovoltaic park in northwest China’s Qinghai Province is demonstrating how renewable energy can support both environmental restoration and rural livelihoods through an innovative “solar-plus-grazing” model.

The park allows sheep to graze beneath solar panels, where improved grass growth helps livestock gain weight while naturally controlling vegetation. The system has created a self-sustaining ecological cycle that benefits herders, boosts local incomes, and enhances solar power efficiency.

Today, the park supports more than 20,000 “photovoltaic sheep,” has restored vegetation across 80 percent of the area, and generates billions of yuan in clean electricity annually while reducing carbon emissions.
