A workplace anthem from the Chambishi Copper Mine in Zambia has gone viral online, with many listeners initially mistaking it for a FIFA World Cup song due to its uplifting melody and powerful choral performance.

The song, performed by local mine workers under a Chinese-operated mining company, quickly gained global attention on social media for its inspiring lyrics about resilience, hard work, and hope.

The Chambishi Copper Mine, once abandoned due to technical and financial challenges, was later revived through major investment and modernization efforts. The redevelopment transformed it into one of Africa’s early digitalized mining operations, creating over 6,000 local jobs and boosting community development.

The mining company behind the project has emphasized long-term investment, infrastructure support, and worker welfare, including cultural programs such as music training for employees.

The viral anthem has been widely praised for symbolizing cooperation between Chinese and African partners and reflecting broader China–Africa economic and cultural ties.

The story comes as China and Africa mark 70 years of diplomatic relations and continue expanding cooperation in trade, infrastructure, education, and development initiatives.
