Set to open on September 16, 2026, the 134.2-kilometer Pinglu Canal in Guangxi will shorten southwest China’s shipping route to the sea by over 560 kilometers and reduce annual logistics costs by more than 5 billion yuan.

The 72.7-billion-yuan project incorporates 104 bridges, utilizing digital twin models and BIM technology to carry out complex operations such as reverse demolition and synchronized bridge lifting.

The design balances modernization with ecological preservation, incorporating protective measures for coastal mangroves and constructing China’s first dedicated canal-crossing ecological corridor bridge to allow safe passage for local wildlife.
