The sixth edition of the Ijebu Rewa Games Hangout and Cultural Festival will take place on Saturday, 17 October 2026, in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, bringing together traditional games, cultural performances, sporting activities and community programmes.

The festival is scheduled to be held at Adeola Odutola College. Organisers say this year’s programme will include cultural performances, sporting activities and community events.

Ijebu Rewa began as a community gathering centred on traditional games such as Ayo Olopon and draughts, offering residents an opportunity for recreation and social interaction.

Over the years, the event has expanded to include sporting activities, cultural performances, exhibitions and community support programmes, while maintaining a focus on Ijebu heritage and youth participation.

This year’s programme is expected to include indoor and outdoor activities such as snooker, Ayo Olopon, virtual games, horse riding, cycling, draughts, chess and table tennis, as well as a bouncy castle for children.

Cultural performances will also form a major part of the festival, with organisers listing Agemo, Eyo, Igunnuko and Bata dance among the scheduled displays. The programme will also include performances inspired by Yoruba traditions associated with Esu and Sango.

The festival will also feature a trade fair, an awards programme recognising local artisans, and free medical services.

The event is organised by the Ijebu Rewa Media and Cultural Organization, with support from FBP Online Markets and Motto Business.

Sijuade Olalekan, CEO and convener of Ijebu Rewa, said the festival was created to promote and preserve the cultural heritage of Ijebuland.

“We organised Ijebu Rewa to promote the cultural heritage of Ijebu land. When we started this event, we did not envisage that it would be accepted and grow into a programme of this scale,” he said.

Olalekan said organisers were particularly focused on encouraging young people to take part in cultural and recreational activities.
