Ninety-five-year-old David Victor Plymire reconnected with friends in Huangyuan County, Qinghai, reflecting on his family’s relationship with the region dating back to his father’s arrival in 1908.

Over three decades, Plymire made more than 20 trips across the Pacific to donate over 6 million yuan in medical equipment including the county’s first CT scanner and ultrasound units for local clinics while also supporting local English teacher training. Historical photos taken by his father documenting local life were preserved into a published archive.

Though unable to travel due to age, Plymire’s legacy remains embedded in the county hospital’s history and local memory.
