China’s economy expanded by 4.7 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2026, with GDP reaching 69.57 trillion yuan. Summer grain production exceeded 150 million tons for the first time, while total imports and exports topped 25 trillion yuan, setting a new record for the period.
Despite global economic uncertainties, China maintained stable growth driven by innovation, expanding trade, and stronger domestic demand. High-value exports, including electric vehicles, ships, and integrated circuits, continued to strengthen the country’s industrial competitiveness.
Emerging industries such as artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and the digital economy contributed significantly to economic growth, accounting for more than 40 percent of new growth drivers. Consumer spending also remained strong, supported by trade-in programs that generated over 1 trillion yuan in sales.
China also advanced technological innovation, expanded international cooperation, and deepened reforms to integrate industry, research, talent, and capital, reinforcing its long-term commitment to high-quality and sustainable economic development.
